What North Carolina requires

The renewal cycle, plain English.

If you’re licensed in North Carolina, you need 24 hours of CE every 2 years, including the 3-hour ethics module, by your license expiration date. The remaining hours can come from any approved elective in your line of authority.

Every course you finish gets filed with the NC DOI through Sircon, usually within 24 hours. Your credits show up on your transcript well before your deadline.

North Carolina FAQ

Quick answers.

When are my North Carolina credits reported?

We file your credits with the NC DOI through Sircon, usually within 24 business hours of finishing a course. You’ll get a confirmation email as soon as the filing is done.

Can I take all 24 hours online?

Yes. North Carolina allows the full 24-hour requirement to be completed online, including the ethics module. All of our courses meet the state’s self-study standards.

What happens if I miss my renewal deadline?

North Carolina offers a short grace period, but late renewals come with a state fee and your license can lapse. Reinstating a lapsed license takes extra steps with the department. We send deadline reminders well in advance so this never has to come up.

Do ACCE courses transfer to other states?

A lot of our courses are approved in multiple states, look for the multi-state badge on the course card, or browse our multi-state bundles if you’re licensed in more than one.
